Welcome to Whidwood, a log cabin hideaway near historic Coupeville on beautiful Whidbey Island, Washington.
While you're here, you can explore island shops, galleries, parks, gardens and beaches. You can enjoy a hot tub,
library, sunroom and breakfast. You can have some conversation or you can soak up some solitude.

"A logical home base for exploring both Whidbey and Fidalgo is the centrally located town of Coupeville."
                                                                                       - The New York Times, 9/21/07

Central Whidbey Island lies in the Olympic Mountain rainshadow, which means we only get 20 inches of rain
a year, just half of Seattle's 40 inches. That makes Whidwood a great base for outdoor activities, such as
hiking, biking, whale watching, kayaking, beachcombing, kite flying, horseback riding, birdwatching or
garden touring.

Whidbey Island is a great destination for people who enjoy gardens. There are a dozen different nurseries on
the island, many with beautiful display gardens to see. And Whidbey Island is the home of the
renowned Meerkerk Rhododendron Garden.

Art lovers and antique collectors can find a lot of hidden treasure on Whidbey Island. The art towns of
Coupeville and Langley are filled with interesting boutiques and galleries. Coupeville is the second
oldest town in Washington state and its historic waterfront area has many unique shops and restaurants.
And after shopping in Langley, you can stop at Whidbey Island Winery and taste some locally made wine.

With five state parks, spectacular water and mountain views, summer concerts, four farmers markets,
street fairs, flea markets and fine dining... you'll never run out of things to do on Whidbey Island.

And one more thing:  Whidwood has a big library of books and magazines. So if it does rain a bit while
you're here, you can always just lounge in bed, read by the fireplace,
soak in the hot tub, snooze in the
sunroom, or enjoy some wine and conversation.
